Laser Gas Contamination Problems

The following procedure applies to all Amada Laser Machines equipped with the Fanuc C1000, C1500, C2000, C1500B, C2000A, C2000B or C3000B lasers.

 

PROBLEMS DUE TO GAS CONTAMINATION OR BAD MIXTURE OF GAS.

Gas contamination problems can cause output power to drop significantly; a good indication will probably be slow distinguishing of the base discharge, one after another, followed by an increase in voltages by a few hundreds on the diagnostic display.

When gas contamination is suspected in the laser machine due to using bad gas, and purging several times does not seem to work; the following procedure may help evacuate contaminated gas and increase output power after replacement of good gas:

1.
 Set the following parameters as followed:
  O-L C1500 SERIES:
    #231 = 1000 (Reset maximum power during calibration from 1500 W to 1000 W).
    #232 = 0.
    #3979.2 = 1 (Enable evacuation when RUN is turned off).
    #3991 = 900 (Set 15 minutes calibration/evacuation time).
  16LA or 16LB C1500B SERIES:
    #15201 = 1000 (Reset maximum power during calibration from 1500 W to 1000 W)
    #15003.2 = 1 (Enable evacuation when RUN is turned off).
    #15205 = 900 (Set 15 minutes calibration/evacuation time).
2.
 Turn oscillator start on, this will take approximately 15 minutes to calibrate. It is normal to see mirror cleaning alarm come up in the end.
3.
 Turn oscillator start off, purging will take place for about 15 minutes automatically.
4.
 Repeat step 2 and 3 one more time to ensure proper evacuation of contaminated gas.
5.
 Return all parameters to original.
6.
 Turn oscillator on. After calibration period ends, check your power compensation coefficient parameter no. 241 and compare voltage and amperage readings with data sheet. You should be able to obtain significant improvements. Good luck!
