AESI Service Department Customer Support -- Tech Note: L001-6M

Applies to: Fanuc 6M Control.
Last updated: December 27, 1996.

SUMMARY

The following procedure applies to the Fanuc 6M Control. It provides step by step instructions for changing parameters. For instructions on loading parameters please go to Loading Parameters

Note 1: If you do not have parameter tapes or disks, you can download them from our Parameter site.

Note 2: In the following explanation bold italic text means it is a push button on the control panel and underlined bold italic text means it is a key switch or toggle switch.

Procedure

1.
With the power on, turn the door interlock key, on the back of the control, to OFF.

•
This will allow you to open the door without shuting off the control or shunt breaker.
2.
Open the front door on the control and turn the Parameter switch to Enable.

•
The switch is located on the Master PC Board in the lower left corner.

•
Alarm 000 will be displayed on the CRT screen.

•
This is just to let you know that the parameters are unprotected and can be over written.
3.
Select MDI on the mode switch and turn the Edit Protect key OFF.

•
You must be in MDI mode to change any parameters.
4.
Press the PARAM button on the Control.

•
This will bring up the parameter page.
5.
Press the letter N then the parameter number you want to change followed by the INPUT button.

•
Example: N 3 1 8 INPUT

•
This will take the cursor directly to parameter 318 so you can edit this parameter.

•
Note: You may also page and cursor up or down to the proper parameter.
6.
Write down the current value before you change the parameter in case you have problems.
7.
To change the parameter press the letter P then the new value you want, followed by the INPUT button.

•
Confirm the data has changed to the new value.
8.
After you have finished changing parameters, return the parameter switch to Disable.

•
You will need to turn power OFF and back ON to clear the alarm.
9.
Test the machine to make sure the new settings are effective and accurate.

Example: to adjust parameter 84. This is for the turret. This parameter corrects how smoothly the index pins enter the turret at origin only. Each number equals approx. .0009". You will have to experiment for the amount and the proper direction.
